A DREAM trip to Ibiza is the prize for a talented DJ who will represent the UK in a global contest.
Shaun Lane, of Warndon, Worcester, is getting ready to hit the decks at the Grand Finale of the Movida Corona International DJ contest during the closing party in Balearic Island’s superclub Pacha.
The 26-year-old, who works as a barman in the Old Chequers Inn, Crowle, near Worcester, won an electrifying showdown in the UK final at the Monastery in Manchester, where he beat seven dance DJs in front of 1,000 clubbers. On Saturday, October 5, he will compete against 21 DJs from Denmark to Dubai and Germany to Greece for the title of best DJ in the world.
Mr Lane said: “When they announced my name as the winner I literally couldn’t believe it. I put my face in my hands and just tried to get my head around what had just happened.
“I am still in a bit of shock to be honest. I only have to think about the world-class DJs who have played on the same stage that I will be on in Ibiza in October, and it renders me speechless.
“I got through to the UK final last year and narrowly missed out, so this is a complete dream come true for me.”
Having won the regional final in Birmingham earlier in the year, he was crowned UK champion by a carefully selected panel of judges, including representatives from Mixmag, Mix cloud.com, Pacha, Secret Party Project and Weekend Millionaires.
