A TOUGH group of men will be facing a brutal test when they put themselves through the Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.
The crew – Jake Bowdige, Dave Complin, Sam Flecknell, Dicky Lawrence, Neal Love, Andrew Price, Ben Price, Del Smith, Matthew Stone and Rob Thompson – will take on a 12-mile obstacle course which has been designed by the special forces.
The contest, which will be held tomorrow in Crickhowel, Wales, will see the men crawling under barbed wire, jumping through fire, swimming in ice lakes and being electrocuted with 10,000 volts plus many more obstacles to test them to their physical and mental limits.
The team are all from Worcester and have day jobs ranging from carpenter to electrician and marketing to tree surgeon.
Robert Thompson, who manages the Pavilion in St John’s, Worcester, said: “Not everyone manages to complete the course, so we will be helping each other out to get to the finish line.
“St Richard’s is an amazing charity and we want to help them carry on their fabulous work. They have helped many of our family and friends and it’s now time for us to give something back.”
The Worcester-based St Richard’s Hospice has a day hospice and a 16-bed in-patient unit, as well as caring for people in their own homes. The hospice provides free specialist care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. It currently supports more than 2,400 patients and family members in Worcestershire.
