CARICATURES for charity are on offer thanks to a Worcester artist.

Steve Noake, of Canada Way, Lower Wick, is auctioning off the chance to be immortalised in your very own caricature in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, through online auction site, eBay.

The 52-year-old father-of-two told your Worcester News he had the idea after painting a caricature of friend and Ketch Car Boot mainstay ‘Grumpy’ Dave Young, who himself will be matching the first £25 raised in the auction.

“I’ve got to know Dave quite well because I’m always at car boot sales and so is he,” he said.

“I did my very first caricature of him as a bit of a joke.

“It just sort of sprang from that.”

The father-of-two, who is an art graduate from the University of Worcester, specialises in paintings of rock stars, retro scooters and dogs and said he had decided to raise money for the charity – which supports children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – as his wife Alyson, a paediatric nurse, had worked with the charity for a few months and had first-hand experience of the work they do.

“There are a million and one charities out there,” he said. “It just seemed like a worthy cause.”

The auction - which can be found here - ends at 10.24pm on Sunday evening – said to be the time when the auction site is most active.

The winner will also be able to choose a watercolour painting from Mr Noake’s collection.
