A ROCKING exhibition will showcase the best work developed by amateur snappers during this year’s Worcester Music Festival.
The sixth annual celebration of live, original music from Worcestershire and beyond saw 240 bands play across the Faithful City from Friday, August 30, to Sunday, September 1.
Emotive, action-packed and inspirational images of bands, artists, audiences or anything directly related to the festival will be on display during an exhibition at Worcester Arts Workshop from Wednesday, September 18, to Sunday, September 28.
The top 25 shots taken during this year’s festival photo challenge will be hung on the walls of the Sansome Street venue, with the top three snaps being announced at the post-festival party from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday, Sept-ember 22.
To reach this point, three experienced judges will be casting their trained eyes over the entries.
Joe Singh has been a musician for more 20 years and branched out to become a photographer, acting as the resident photographer for the Swan Theatre as well as working with local bands, companies and at weddings.
Freelance music photographer Steve Johnston has shot some of the biggest names in rock including Iron Maiden, KISS and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
He was shortlisted in the 2010 NME Photo Awards and won Gibson Guitar’s Sonisphere Festival Photo Competition in 2011.
Mark Hoy is a regular at gigs across the region, having his photos published in numerous places.
The winner will receive a £100 voucher for Wilkinson Cameras, while the second prize is a copy of the book ‘Who Shot Rock and Roll: A Photographic History, 1955-Present’ and the third prize is a copy of the ‘Concert and Live Music Photography: Pro Tips from the Pit’ book.
