WOMEN students who live in Upton-upon-Severn, or whose parents do, can apply for grants towards the cost of their education.
The Upton-upon-Severn Education Foundation was set up in the early 18th century to encourage the education of girls in the parish.
Today it is still required to use its income to encourage girls’ education, either by grants to individual students or by providing ‘extras’ for the schools local girls attend.
The trust is currently inviting grant applications from any women under 25 who are in higher education and meet the residency criteria.
Applications should be made in writing to: Mrs J C White, chairman to the trustees, Upton-upon-Severn Education Foundation, 3 School Lane, Upton, Worcestershire, WR8 0LA.
