BUDDING Brunels at Pershore High School have won a place in the final of a prestigious contest.
Talented students staked their claim on the shortlist by wowing judges at the National Science and Engineering Competition.
Jonathan Drinkwater, Ryan Cooper, Louise Chilman and Jonathan Jones excelled in the heats with their project investigating the different possibilities of renewable energy production.
They designed a ‘renewables generator’ that uses brown waste to supplement the demand for kerosene.
The team will now represent the West Midlands and go head-to-head with students from across the country in an attempt to claimone of the UK’s most sought-after science honours for young people at The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair at The NEC, Birmingham, in March 2014.
Ryan Cooper said: “The National Science and Engineering Competition has taken me on an amazing journey and I’ve definitely got my sights set on the big prize while at the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham next March.
“The best and most important discoveries and inventions are down to science and engineering, and this contest has helped me to realise that I want to be a part of that in the future.”
