My seven-year-old daughter had already hugely enjoyed two previous books in the London Zoo series – Stop, There’s a Snake in Your Suitcase, and Run, The Elephant Weighs a Ton. So she was delighted to renew her acquaintance with Tom and Sophie, the children with the vet mum and zookeeper dad, for the latest adventure in the series. Hide, the Tiger’s Mouth is Open Wide is a tale about a big cat with a sore tooth – but as with the previous books, there’s more to the situation than meets the eye, and it’s up to the two young sleuths to track down the truth. Like the other books in the series, it’s a funny and exciting story which had my daughter turning the pages long after her scheduled lights out time. As the book’s back cover puts it, it’s all grrrreat fun.
