DEAN Ryan is used to being in the hot seat as director of rugby at Worcester Warriors – but not the hot saddle.
However, the coach will be getting on his bike for charity during the Worcestershire Wheelie Fun Ride on Sunday, September 15, in aid of the Wooden Spoon charity.
Wooden Spoon, founded in 1983, provides facilities, treatments and activities to disadvantaged children and young people.
The event on Sunday offers participants the chance to ride 30 or 60 miles to raise funds for the charity, with all cash raised staying in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
“The work of Wooden Spoon is crucially important and dedicated to helping disadvantaged children and young people live happier, richer lives,” said Mr Ryan. “I’m looking forward to supporting the event and I hope as many Worcester fans as possible will also take to the saddle on the day to raise vital funds.”
John Gibson, a businessman and chairman of Wooden Spoon, said: “Hard work and fantastic support from our partners will ensure that the Wheelie Fun Riders and Spoon supporters will have a fantastic first outing. “The ride, post-ride barbecue and presentation ensures that there is something for everyone on the day.”
Entrants can still register to take part in the cycle, which starts from the Green Bike Company, on Bromyard Road, at about 9am, and finishes at New Road.
Entry is £25 for the 30-mile ride and £30 for the 60-mile.
