A WORCESTER care home joined forces with neighbours to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

St John’s resident, Gemma Lloyd, and her aunt Jenny Andrews hosted a summer fete at Regent Care Home in School Road, in support of the charity and raised £778 for the charity.

Miss Lloyd, of Tudor Way, decided to do something in support of the charity as her grandmother lives with Alzheimer’s and was a regular at the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Café in Malvern and Worcester.

After the success of her first event, which featured activities for all ages, Miss Lloyd is planning another fund-raiser to get the care home a new minibus.

She said: “I organised the fund-raiser in aid of my nan who has Alzheimer’s and lives at Regent Care Home. It’s difficult that she doesn’t always know us anymore and I wanted to help other people and the care home, which is a really nice place. I also wanted to personally thank all the businesses who generously donated items to the raffle where we were able to make a fantastic contribution to a charity that is close to my heart.”
