BREAK out the brollies - this weekend could be a soggy one.
The Met Office yesterday issued a severe weather warning for Friday and Saturday predicting heavy and persistent rain throughout Worcestershire and the rest of the West Midlands.
The band of heavy rain will also stretch from the Scottish borders, across the North East and West of England and Wales, with only London and the South East likely to get away without umbrellas.
The yellow warning is valid from 12.05am on Friday until just before midnight on Saturday.
In a statement posted on the Met Office website yesterday chief forecaster Andy Page said: “Bands of rain will become slow-moving across parts of the UK on Friday and Saturday.
“Some locally heavy and persistent rainfall is expected, particularly across Wales and parts of England.
“This may cause some flooding from rivers or surface water.
“There is still significant uncertainty as to where and when the heaviest rainfall and greatest impacts will occur, so this Alert will be updated on Thursday.”
Residents are being advised low-lying homes businesses and land such as fields and car parks may experience some flooding and surface water may be experienced on roads.
Journeys by car and public transport may also be delayed as a result of the rain.
