A BADGER cull is believed to have started on the Gloucestershire - Worcestershire border.
The exact locations of any cull are not revealed, although areas around Newent are believed to be among them.
Meanwhile, Gloucestershire Police said an operation to police the initiative, which has provoked widespread protest, was running from 8pm yesterday.
No arrests have been made, the force added.
Last week, a planned cull began in Somerset, aimed at combating bovine TB, with around 5,000 badgers expected to be killed by trained marksmen during the six-week programme.
Around 100 protestors are believed to have gathered in Gloucestershire to protest over the scheme, overseen by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
