A WORCESTER man died following a crash between a car and a van yesterday afternoon.
The 30-year-old was killed after his blue BMW crashed into a white Mercedes Sprinter van on the B4424 Upton Road at Clevelode, near Callow End at about 5pm before hitting the verge, crossing the road and going through a hedge.
He was trapped in his car and had to be cut free by the fire service before being airlifted to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with injuries including a a punctured lung, and died later that evening.
The van driver was unhurt.
PC Heather Leech of West Mercia Police said: “We spoke to a number of witnesses at the scene, but in the light of the driver’s death, it is even more imperative we establish exactly what happened and how this young man came to lose his life.
“Any witnesses who have not already spoken to officers are asked to contact us on the non-emergency number 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 495-s-290813.”
