THERE’S a sizeable gap in the Celebrity Big Brother house after a larger-than-life entertainer failed to win a spot on the show.

Worcester’s Tony James, who is better known as Blobbie Williams from the parody tribute act Take Fat, launched a bid to star on the Channel 5 back in June but was not among those who entered the reality show last week.

Having already won Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me, Blobbie will have to watch on as the likes of celebrity choreographer Louie Spence, model Sophie Anderton, former football manager Ron Atkinson and the Battersbys from Coronation Street compete for attention.

However, his appetite for success hasn’t been diminished by the setback, with the roly poly singer vowing to get into the house in the future.

He says he will make a second attempt to take part in the show – possibly as soon as the next series.

“It’s not stopped me from getting into that house. Maybe the next one I will get in, somehow I will get in there,” he said.

“I might even go for the civilian one, I have put the form in.”

Blobbie isn’t hugely impressed with some of the so-called celebrities chosen and says he would have been “completely open with everybody” had he made it in, as well as bringing his cheeky sense of humour and straight talking ways to the proceedings. He was also very grateful for the support shown to him during his bid to get into the house.

“The support I got was amazing – everybody sending me messages, saying they would love to see me in there and how funny it would be,” he said. “I am really grateful for anyone who got in touch with me.”

In the meantime Blobbie will be tuning in to see what the 13 housemates get up to.
