POLICE in Evesham are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a cyclist and a car, in which the car driver failed to stop at the scene.
The incident took place on Friday, August 9, at around 8.30pm on the B4084 Evesham to Cropthorne road, just past the junction for Haselor Lane.
The cyclist was heading towards Pershore when he was overtaken by two small hatchbacks, one white, the other dark in colour, travelling in the same direction.
A third vehicle then went to overtake the cyclist and collided with him, causing the rider to come off his bike. The driver of that vehicle did not stop and continued on their journey.
The cyclist was taken to hospital and treated for injuries which include broken bones.
PC Kerry Holloway, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and noticed the vehicle which failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
“Unfortunately we have no further description for this vehicle but we do know that it was travelling behind the two small hatchbacks at the time.
“It may be that the driver of this vehicle was not aware of what happened and if that is the case, we need that person to come forward and I would urge them to call us straightaway on 101 quoting reference 162S 120813.”
