Little Mouse's Big Books of Beasts by Emily Gravett is published in hardback by Macmillan Children's Books, priced £11.99. Available now.
Emily Gravett's Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears was a multi-award winning book. Her follow-up, Little Mouse's Big Book of Beasts, holds to a similar concept.
The idea is this - Little Mouse has been rummaging through Gravett's book case and has found a scary book of beasts.
To make the book a little less frightening, it has made a few changes by doing things like covering the lion's claws with mittens and drawing a dainty pair of high heeled shoes on the rhinoceros. It's also had a nibble on some of the pages as it goes. Well, a mouse needs to eat, you know.
There is a lot to look at and do throughout the book, and even instructions for creating an origami shark or mouse, making this book one you will want to read with, not just to, your little one.
It's an unusual, fun and humorous read.
9/10
