A SPATE of fires were started in skips and bins in Worcester during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Five of the blazes, which all happened between 3.25am and 5am, were in Warndon, with a skip in Langdale Drive, in two bins in Kentmere Close and a further two in Fairfield close all being set alight.
A bin in Wigton Place was also set on fire as was a skip outside The Lakes pub on Ambleside Drive, which is currently being renovated, and a large black wheelie bin was burned in a communal bin store in Michael Tippet Drive.
All are being linked by the police.
Sergeant Helen Wain, who leads the Warndon Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “Thankfully, none of the fires caused any serious damage, but this was mostly down to the efforts of our colleagues at Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to extinguish them.
“Many of the fires were started close to residences and could have had some major consequences if they were dealt with effectively.
“We are looking to identify any potential witnesses, so if you were in Warndon in the small hours of Saturday morning, please get in touch. The Warndon Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be providing reassurance patrols in the local area, so please feel free to speak to them about any concerns or information you have.”
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
