WITNESSES to a collision between a van and a cyclist in Ombersley on Saturday are being asked to come forward.
Police were called at 9pm after the incident outside the Cross Keys pub on the A4133 in which a white Transit-style van swerved across the road in front of a cyclist, a man in his 50s, who was forced to take action causing injuries to his shoulder along with cuts and bruises.
A witness saw a van matching the description stopped a short distance away shortly after with two occupants – a white man dressed in a beige shirt and beige trousers and a female passenger dressed in black – apparently inspecting it for damage.
It was then seen to drive off on the A4133 in the direction of Holt Fleet.
The van was white, fairly new, high-roofed and had no markings or business livery.
West Mercia Police Constable Paul Waterhouse is investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“This collision could have been far more serious, and it appears the van’s occupants were not only aware it had taken place, they thought they may have hit the cyclist,” he said.
“However, they had little care for his welfare and drove off.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 428s of August 10.
Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org
