THE victim of a sexual assault in Kidderminster at the weekend had no recollection of how she got to the town.

Police officers are hoping people may have seen the teenager during a “missing” period of several hours.

Officers were called to Tesco in Castle Road just before 3am after staff reported a 19-year-old woman had been assaulted nearby.

Detective Constable Adrian Smith of West Mercia Police said the victim had spent Friday evening with a friend in Bewdley town centre and they parted company between 11.30pm and midnight.

“She found herself in Kidderminster town centre between 1.30am and 2am, with no recollection of how she got there, although CCTV has shown she was by Shipleys Bingo in New Road at about 1.15am.

“She then met a man she did not know who walked her to Tesco on Castle Road where he joined friends before they all walked off towards the canal tow path."

"The victim has fairly long ginger hair, and was wearing an animal print dress and black tights, and we are appealing for anyone who saw her either in Bewdley or Kidderminster during the period of several hours that she cannot remember.

"We are trying to establish where she had been, who she was with, how she got to Kidderminster, and what happened to her in the vicinity of Tesco and the canal towpath.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who used the towpath or saw the victim standing with a group of men outside the main customer entrance to Tesco between 2am and 3am.

“As well as being sexually assaulted, the victim was punched and kicked. Every bit of information, now matter how unimportant it seems, could be vital in helping us to piece together what happened to this young woman.”

Two men arrested as part of the inquiry have been bailed until August 6.
