A BUDDING hairdresser from South Worcestershire College won an award at the national Chris and Sons Student of the Year competition in London.

Gemma Attwood won an internal heat to represent the college and entrants into the competition chose from four categories.

She opted for the era of the swinging 60s and to impress the judges competitors needed to be creative both with their hairdressing and with the styling of their model.

Sam Luce, deputy head of the college’s lifestyle academy, said: “The standard was high, but Gemma rose to the challenge with a fantastic piece of work.”
