A MAN has died following a crash in Malvern yesterday morning.
At around 10.55am, a silver Honda Civic was driving at slow speed along Spring Lane, Malvern Link, nearing the junction with Worcester Road, when it crossed to the other side of the road, mounted the pavement and collided with a pedestrian crossing post opposite the Texaco petrol station.
The driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital by ambulance but was declared dead soon after his arrival. No-one else was involved in the incident.
The Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham, a community first responder and two ambulance crews attended the scene.
Spring Lane was closed until around 1.45pm while the incident was dealt with and collision investigators worked at the scene.
PC Lee Baker, who is investigating the incident, said: “Paramedics did all they could to help the man involved in the collision, but sadly there was nothing they could do for him.
“We are now looking at what may have caused the incident and I would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash and has not yet been in touch with the police.
“I would also like anyone to get in touch who saw the Civic driving along Spring Lane in the moments beforehand.”
