Dear Resident As Deputy Leader of the County Council, with responsibility for the economy and infrastructure, I’ve been at the heart of driving change in our local councils - striving to deliver genuine efficiencies so we can continue to protect essential public services whilst releasing resources to invest in improving the area. This has been achieved at the same time as freezing Council Tax for the last three years.
Worcestershire is a great place to live, but we all know we’re living in tough times. That’s why I’m focused on ensuring our County encourages enterprise and supports businesses to grow and create jobs. We’ve continued to invest; improving the City Centre and riverside, resurfacing more roads and pavements and providing an extra £3m to support economic initiatives. Government is backing our efforts – committing £14m towards measures to improve Worcester’s transport network and over £3m for faster broadband.
I’m proud to have supported ambitious regeneration in our City – with The Hive now complete, the new waterside communities in Diglis growing fast and the Lowesmoor redevelopment now open. Construction of the cricket ground’s new hotel is underway and it’s great to see the Worcester Arena adding to our sporting facilities.
Locally, I’ve been working hard to progress solutions to parking problems, improve pedestrian & cycle links and get pavements & roads resurfaced. On the City Council I’ve supported the reduction in parking charges, backed a scheme to help first time buyers, delivered new litter & dog bins and supported controls on houses in multiple occupation. Yet there is still much more to do and only with your support can we continue to improve the City.
Please support me on the 2nd May so I can continue to work for you.
Kind regards Simon Based on information supplied by simon Geraghty.
