A DOCTOR and nurse pounded the pavements of Paris to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.
Ellie Piercy, a doctor at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, and Tina Baxter, a GP practice nurse at Lyppard Grange Medical Centre in Warndon, joined 40,000 others running through the French capital.
Dr Piercy, aged 26, from Colwall, near Malvern, was running her first full marathon and was delighted with her time of three hours and 55 minutes.
“Running down the Champs-Elysees and past the Louvre was an amazing way to start,” she said.
Tina, from Worcester, has also completed the London and New York marathons and said her efforts in Paris would be her last.
“The marathon was great, obviously very tough, but I had fantastic support from my family,” she said.
“I have been very lucky to do three amazing big city marathons but feel I have done enough. I’ll still run, but more sensible distances.”
She chose to run for St Richard’s because of the support it offered to a close friend who lost her life to cancer last year.
“I feel the hospice is a big part of our community and we need to support the great work they do,” she said.
