I worked in local government for 10 years and took early retirement on grounds of disability. My duties included supporting council members and organising venues for electoral counts. Prior to this, I worked in theatre for 10 years, including as a Technical Production Manager on Shaftesbury Avenue. I moved to Worcester from London and love its architecture and friendliness.
I live in Rainbow Hill and I especially like the fact that local shops are supported. I believe that locally owned small shops and businesses are important in maintaining a strong local economy – they keep money in the area and help to maintain a sense of community. I grew up in Oxford and saw the impact of the loss of local services. The Green Party has been central to local and national campaigns against cuts to jobs and services. As well as helping to protect local jobs and services, my priorities would be to ensure that potholes are mended so that they do not need to be re-done months later and tackling thoughtless and illegal parking that makes life dangerous for so many disabled people, cyclists, and people with push-chairs.
