The House Rabbit by Lesley White (David Fickling Books, £11.99 hardback) There was once a house rabbit, who lived peacefully in an old house upon a hill. Peacefully, that is, until one moonlit night when Rabbit is woken by a frightening crash.
He's sure the house is falling down. As fur flies and chaos ensues, Rabbit and his friends embark on a brave mission to realise the truth and face their fears.
This book, aimed at younger readers, is a lot of fun. It's nicely written by Lesley White and, with a limited amount of text, in many ways the pictures do the talking.
Hardback books are, obviously, considerably more expensive than paperbacks but - as my wife and I are discovering with our two-year-old son, who loves to rearrange his bookcase - their extra durability makes them worth the investment.
