There is one main reason why I want to be elected to the County Council: the people living in the Rainbow Hill, Wyld's Lane, Lowesmoor, Brickfields and Tunnel Hill areas deserve to be well represented and to have a councillor who gets things done.

I have been a city councillor for Rainbow Hill since 2000 and have a track record of helping people with a wide variety of issues.

I often am asked to help with matters which are the responsibility of the County Council, but this is difficult unless the county councillor supports the local city councillor. This has been a challenge during the last four years, with Labour city councillors dealing with a Tory county councillor.

I know I can achieve so much more by being on the County Council myself. The county is responsible for spending about £1 million of our money every day. It deals with complex services such as our schools, social services, maintaining our streets, roads and footways as well as being responsible for public health.

Before I retired from paid jobs, I worked in senior roles in private companies dealing with information and communication technology, marketing and sales and financial services. I have also been head of department in a local high school. I understand how local government works and know how to get things done. Most important of all, I treat people with respect and mk listen to what they say.

One of my achievements through the county council has been to get a pedestrian crossing over a train line closed. Children were being spotted by train drivers playing 'chicken' over the tracks and putting objects on the lines, risking danger both to themselves and people on the trains.

The County Council dragged its feet and the Tory county councillor did not know how to help. Meetings were set up between the county and Network Rail. I got support from both Mike Foster MP and Robin Walker MP. Eventually, the government's Rail Regulator's Office intervened and the council finally acted.

Residents who have contacted me know I always do my best to help. Please vote for me so that I can serve you better.
