EXTRA officers will be drafted in to patrol the streets of Kidderminster on Sunday in a bid to avoid a repeat of last week’s crowd trouble.

Harriers and Wrexham fans have been urged to stay out of trouble during the promotion play-off at Aggborough stadium.

The Blue Square Bet Premier tie will see extra officers out in the town to ensure that supporters and residents remain safe.

Chief Inspector Adrian Knight, who is in charge of the policing operation, said: “The ticket allocation for Wrexham supporters has already sold out so we would strongly advise any of their fans who do not already have tickets not to travel to the game – they will not be allowed to enter the ground.

“We will have a proportionate but high visibility police presence on the day to support the club and facilitate a safe and enjoyable match.

“I would also warn the minority who might be looking to make trouble that it will not be tolerated and anyone found causing problems inside or outside the ground will be dealt with swiftly and robustly by our officers.

“We will not allow irresponsible behaviour to spoil the match for true football supporters or disturb residents going about their normal business.”

Trouble flared early in the second half of Harriers’ crunch Blue Square Bet Premier clash with Stockport County at Aggborough last Saturday, which the Worcestershire club needed to win to stand any chance of clinching automatic promotion.

Shortly after Harriers went 1-0 up the game was halted for around 25 minutes when a small number of visiting fans entered the pitch.
