A FLYTIPPER who left excessive amounts of household rubbish on a grass verge in Droitwich has been fined.

Gemma Eveline Stokes, aged 29, of Hunters Close in Droitwich, was found to be responsible for duty of care offences in relation to the disposal of household waste on June 22 last year following an investigation by Wychavon District Council.

At Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 11, the council presented evidence that showed how Stokes had left eight black bin bags outside and well-away from her property on a grass verge on non-bin days.

After missing two interview opportunities with a crime enforcement officer at the council Stokes appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the offence.

She was given a £75 fine, ordered to pay £130 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Dave Roberts, Wychavon’s Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer, said: “It’s important to remember all householders have a duty of care to ensure any rubbish removed from their house in done so in the right way.

“They can put the waste in their black wheelie bins ready for their collection day, they can take it to the tip, or they can pay someone to dispose of the waste for them, as long as they check the person has a waste carrier licence and they check where the carrier is going to take it.”

Flytipping can be reported to Wychavon on 01386 565656.
