WORK to revamp Worcester’s Foregate Street railway station is getting underway tomorrow, with passengers being warned to expect disruption.
The £785,000 overhaul, first revealed by your Worcester News last August, is being led by Network Rail and Worcestershire County Council.
The company wants to replace two 1970s canopies and install automatic doors to both entrances, create cycle storage areas, new customer service screens and give the station a lick of paint.
Peter Blake, County Hall’s head of integrated transport, said: “I would like to thank people for their patience during the upgrade, which will cause some short-term disruption, as each entrance will be closed separately for a period of the works.
“Importantly, full access will be maintained to the ticket office, Travel Information Centre and the platforms at all times.”
The upgrade will be complete in September or October.
