AN afternoon tea packed full of Fairtrade treats was hosted by primary schoolchildren.
Year four pupils from Burlish Park School in Stourport baked the sweet treats for the event using only Fairtrade ingredients.
The children researched the products available before baking as well as designing a television advertisment and posters.
Parents and carers helped them to raise more than £70 during the afternoon tea and also took part in a quiz.
Teacher Helen Jordan said: “Pupils have been finding out how buying Fairtrade products help people like banana growers, chocolate, coffee bean and tea producers in other countries.
“The afternoon was a huge success with many parents supporting the event.”
It is the fourth year Burlish Park has taken part in Fairtrade Fortnight.
Vi Higgs, school governor and Fairtrade member, said: “The children’s commitment and enthusiasm was obvious throughout the event.
“They are a real asset to the town as well as the Fairtrade organisation.”
