THE ultimate entertainer should have a taste for the limelight and a hunger to keep the crowd wanting more.
Larger than life Blobbie Williams certainly has both in abundance.
As a member of Take Fat, Worcester’s Tony James is used to joining four other portly chaps on stage but for his Robbie Williams parody show at the Marr’s Bar on Friday, May 3 he will be centre stage with a live backing band.
Having won Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me, Blobbie has shown he can cook up a treat on his own but the solo shows will pose a tasty challenge.
“I love nothing more than performing with a live band and so it was something that I could really get my teeth into and made perfect sense.”
He added: “Whatever we do as Take Fat we make sure we all have a say as to what happens with the show. On my own it gives me a lot of freedom to do pretty much what I want but I also realise I have to make it the very best I can.
“When I have the band behind me there is definitely that feeling of safety in numbers having friends around you.”
Though, he isn’t ready to turn his back on the hugely popular Take Fat, who he will still be joining out on the road.
“My priority is with Take Fat and making sure the show we put on is the very best it can be especially for the theatres, but it is nice to take a side step and have my own show to work on and as it was my initial idea it is nice that I can now do the both.”
The setlist for the night is guaranteed to dip into Williams’s extensive back catalogue and include Let Me Entertain You, Candy, Mr Bojangles, Come Undone, Feel, Rock DJ and Angels.
But Blobbie is planning to pack in a few surprises to whet the appetite.
