AN evolving band with a Godly name will be out to prove they stand a sporting chance.
Having started life in a Norwich basement about two years ago, Olympians have put in hard graft to grow from a guitar, bass and drums set-up to include another guitar, two keyboards, a glockenspiel, trumpet and four bellowing voices.
They will flex their muscles at the latest night from the Task in Hand at the Firefly, Lowesmoor, Worcester, on Friday, April 19.
Their sound has moved from twiddly guitar-pop to brass-infused synth-drenched tunes, exploring everything from drones to barbershop harmonies along the way.
In support, Worcester four-piece Inca Hoots will show an intelligent approach to songwriting that results in a unique take on the indie genre, incorporating everything from electronica to samba.
The Joy of Sex are a relatively new group with members from Hereford and Worcester who have starred with KGB Slideshow and Evilwitch - they create something that brings to mind the likes of the Young Knives and British Sea Power.
Tickets are £3 in advance or £5 on the door from 8pm.
