THE best young photographers from schools across Worcestershire have won awards for their flair.
The Beacon Camera Club, working in partnership with Worcestershire County Council’s Children’s Services Directorate, celebrated the success of young photographers at an awards night.
The annual Worcestershire Young Photographer is open to any pupil or student under the age of 19 who is in fulltime education at any school or college within the county.
The 2013 Worcestershire Young Photographer of the Year competition attracted 523 entries from 38 schools around the county.
Entries were judged by a panel of experienced Beacon Camera Club members.
Judges, two of whom are retired headteachers, have all won photographic competitions, with the majority holding distinctions from the Royal Photographic Society and also acting as judges with the Midland Counties Photographic Federation.
The competition’s awards night was held at the Bishop Perowne Church of England College, Merriman's Hill Road, Worcester.
The winners in each category were:
- Primary winner Maanvi Jain (aged 10), Dodderhill School, Raining Colour,
- Lower secondary winner Dale Blake (12), Bredon Hill Middle School,
- Upper secondary winner Rhys Leonard (14), RGS Worcester and the Alice Otley School.
