Mrs Pepperpot and the Treasure by Alf Proysen - Random House
Imagine you can shrink and ride on your cat’s back, and not only that, you can understand cat language. That’s what Mrs Pepperpot can do, which of course is fun, until she realises the friendly dogs down the road are suddenly not so friendly towards her cat, as they give chase, while she clings on with all her might.
On her mini adventure she also dodges giant snowballs and escapes some angry magpies.
But it’s all worthwhile, because hidden in the barn, nestled in some hay is a surprise - glittering diamonds, which on full inspection turn out to be the eyes of some very lovable little kittens.
This updated and specially abridged version of a classic tale by Norwegian children’s writer Alf Proysen, is beautifully illustrated by Hilda Offen.
The Pepperpot books first appeared in the 1950s and have been enjoyed by generations since.
Mrs Pepperpot and the Treasure combines colourful pictures with a magical, heart-warming story.
