MALVERN’S BabaJack are busy thrashing out a deal that could see their new record travel the globe.
The blues-inspired duo of Becky Tate and Trevor Steger are currently piecing together their fourth studio album, the Running Man, while negotiating a record deal to promote it in the UK, across Europe and possibly even in the US.
For fans eager to get their hands on the disc this means the release date has been pushed back until October while the finer details are agreed.
But there will be a cause for celebration much sooner than that, with their gig at Re-Con, Church Street, Great Malvern, on Saturday, April 20 coinciding with Trevor’s 50th birthday.
They will even be joined by alt.blues stalwart, slide guitarist and songwriter Dave Arcari from 9pm, fresh from the release of his new album, Whisky in My Blood.
His sound owe as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as it does to pre-war Delta blues.
In a further boost for BabaJack, their track Rooster Blues has been nominated for the Kevin Thorpe Memorial Award for best original song at the British Blues Awards 2013.
Tickets for the Re-Con gig are £7 (concessions £6).
