FIVE people remain in custody following several serious incidents in Herefordshire yesterday.
The four men and a woman were all arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two men received stab wounds following separate incidents in Westfaling Street, Hereford and on a footpath between Golden Post and the Belmont estate.
The injured men remain in hospital with serious injuries, their conditions are described as very poorly.
Police can confirm they are liaising with colleagues at Cambridgeshire Constabulary who are conducting a murder inquiry following the death of a man in Peterborough over the Easter weekend.
Superintendent Ivan Powell, police commander for Herefordshire, said: “We are continuing to investigate what took place in several different locations yesterday afternoon. Forensic searches and house to house inquiries are ongoing. We have also seized two vehicles as part of our investigation.
“We would like to reassure the public that these incidents were contained swiftly and we will continue to have a police presence in the area to provide support. Those people arrested are not believed to be known to the injured men and this is believed to be random, unprovoked attacks on local people.”
Anyone who witnessed the incidents or has information which may assist police is urged to call 101 and ask for officers at Hereford police station.
