FIRE crews were called to Diglis Basin in Worcester at 11.15am today following reports that a narrow boat had become stuck in the water with people on board.
Fire crews from Worcester, Water First Responders from Kidderminster (water rescue boats from Evesham and Worcester attended, arriving to find that the occupants had evacuated but that the boat was still stuck up against the booms. West Midlands Search and Rescue also attended the incident.
Station Commander Phil Griffiths said: βOn arrival our fire crews worked with a WMSAR representative to move the boat from the booms so that it could be recovered. Thankfully the occupants on board the boat managed to escape to safety unharmed as the boat was taking on water.β
