AS snow continues to cling to parts of the county despite thaws elsewhere, Worcestershire County Council's fleet of gritters will be out on the roads again later today.
This afternoon remains dry with some sunny spells. After dusk skies will become mainly clear, allowing temperatures to fall below freezing overnight.
There is a possibility of low cloud developing, giving rise to fog over high ground. Tomorrow morning will be dry and bright once any remaining low cloud has lifted. Highways inspections are revealing the lingering presence of melting snow, particularly on high ground and shaded areas of the county.
Gritters wil be heading out onto the roads from 6pm today to treat areas of the county roads identified as requiring additional support in the present weather conditions.
Crews will then remain on standby, with roads being monitored to see whether any further treatment is needed.
Drivers are once again urged to drive carefully, and ensure they maintain a safe distance between themselves and other vehicles to allow for extra braking distance when roads are wet or icy.
Highways manager Jon Fraser said: "Although the snow has disappeared from much of the county, it's still well in evidence on the Malverns and in the north of our area, and melting snow combined with cold road surface temperatures overnight is still creating a hazard for drivers, so we'd like to remind drivers that although roads are being treated, salt is never a miracle solution and it's still important to take care when you're out and about on the county highways."
