PRIMARY school pupils stepped back in time as they put on a play about a group of evacuee children during the Second World War.

Year three and four children from Broadwas CE Primary School, near Worcester, performed Archibald’s War to a delighted audience of parents and friends.

The play was the culmination of pupils’ studies about the Second World War, in particular what it was like for children living in Britain at the time.

The school also held a ‘wartime memories day’, when families and members of the local community came in and shared their memories of that period with pupils.

Children even experienced an ‘evacuee day’, when they went on an educational visit to an unknown destination and found out more about life at the time.

Headteacher Mark Allen said: “The children have really enjoyed this topic, particularly working towards performing their play.

“They all practised really hard to learn all their lines and the songs and we are really proud of them.”
