THE debut single of a singer from Kidderminster has been receiving regular airplay on a national radio station this week.

Kiss Me by 19-year-old Lauren Wright was included on the BBC Radio 1 playlist after being named as the BBC Introducing record of the week.

The track was produced in Nashville by Derek Garten, who has worked with Taylor Swift and was keen to work with Lauren following her performance at the Texan annual music conference SXSW in 2011.

She has provided acoustic support to Britney Spears, The Saturdays, JLS and Kelly Clarkson at the LG Arena in Birmingham, while the video for Kiss Me was directed by award-winning director Steve Graham, who has worked on promos for the Eurythmics and Lenny Kravitz.

Having recently completed a tour of East Coast US high schools, performing in New York, Cleveland, Delaware and Connecticut, she is planning a UK tour during the spring.
