A RANGE of diverse influences will be used to flesh out the traditional band set-up when an act with a big sound hit the road.
London-based seven-piece Revere, who include former Worcester resident Russell Cook (bass and vocals) in their ranks, come to the Marr’s Bar, Pierpont Street, on Friday, April 12.
Named after a comic strip from the 2000AD series, they draw on influences such as Broken Social Scene and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to create something which is at once dark, euphoric and uplifting.
By binding together the traditional back-bone of guitar, bass and drums with an unlikely approach to the violin, cello, and piano they have received radio airplay from various BBC 6Music DJs.
Angular stabs of snyths, waves of strings and Stephen Ellis’s almost baritone vocals combine to form a sound that is reminiscent of Leeds post-rockers I Like Trains.
Their latest single, I Won’t Blame You, was launched at London’s 100 Club earlier this month and their second album, My Mirror/Your Target, is due for release during the spring.
The longplayer was funded through the backing of their fanbase who used the Pledge Music scheme to snap up everything from signed piano keys, recording studio visits and even freshly baked cakes.
Support comes from Richard Clarke and the Rafters and Inca Hoots.
Tickets are £3 in advance and £5 on the door.
