AN extremely busy musician is returning home to showcase his new album before carrying on with a hectic touring schedule.

Matt Woosey has been gigging five or six nights a week for five years and a Malvern double header on Saturday, April 6 finds him amid a non-stop 32-date tour.

During this he will perform a solo show and album signing at Carnival Records, Church Street, ahead of a full band at the Great Malvern Hotel, Graham Road, from about 9pm.

It is all in the name of promoting his new album, On the Waggon with the Matt Woosey Band, which is his sixth studio longplayer since leaving popular local band Taxi.

“I am more excited about this year than I have been about any other year so far.”

The album was recorded at Weston Super Mare University College by Tony Hobden, with the whole process, including mixing and mastering, completed within three days.

It is also his first release with the line-up of Malvern drummer and musical partner of 10 years, James E Williams, and Chepstow bassist Adji Shuib Matt feels they have produced the “finest album I have made to date” and its something very different to his previous output.

“We are all extremely proud of it and its been getting five-star reviews around Europe.”

Having been busy on the live music circuit for more than 10 years, he is visiting his pick of small candle-lit venues, famous clubs such as Ronnie Scott's bar in Soho, London and people’s homes.

Matt will also continue jetting around the world thanks to a mixture of hard work, word of mouth and growing CV.

Having already spent three weeks in Germany and a month in South Africa, he will return to Germany in May and June before touring throughout July, August and September along the east coast of Australia.

The year will then draw to a close with further stops in Belgium, Holland and Germany and the release of the Hook, Line and Sinker EP along with a compilation, titled Draw a Line, of all the tracks on his first six albums.
