A WOMAN who jumped into the river Severn received hospital treatment following a late night rescue.
Police were called to reports of a woman threatening to jump into the water near New Road, Worcester, at about 1am today and discovered she had jumped in and swam downstream towards Worcester Cathedral.
Officers threw a buoyancy aid to her and worked with fire crews from Worcester, Evesham and Malvern to bring her to the riverside.
She was tended to by paramedics and was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment for exposure and is being dealt with by a variety of support services.
One ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended the scene.
