RACEGOERS having a flutter at the Cheltenham Festival were treated to delicious dishes cooked by students from Worcester College of Technology.
About 40 catering and hospitality students from the college helped prepare and serve culinary delights in restaurants throughout the four-day event at Cheltenham Racecourse.
Niamh Harding, a Level 1 catering student, said: “It’s been a tiring week, but exciting at the same time.
“We were leaving college at 7am each day and weren’t returning until 9pm at night, so the days were really long.
“However, it was definitely worth it.
“Not only did we get paid for the week’s work, but it gave us a chance to gain valuable work experience, and the whole atmosphere was amazing.
“The opportunity has also given me the confidence to talk to customers from all backgrounds, and fortunately I didn’t spill or drop anything.”
The college has been running the placements for the past 12 years, giving students the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to work in a high pressure professional environment.
