SENIOR staff at Worcester College of Technology went back to basics for National Apprenticeship Week.
Staff experienced a taster of what is what like to become a real apprentice by undertaking work placements at businesses.
Cat Draper, director of learner services at the college, spent the morning at Inspiration hair salon in College Street, Worcester.
She said: “Thanks to Inspiration Hair for providing me with the opportunity to become an apprentice.
“I was put through my paces, sweeping hair and cleaning the hair salon. It was great experiencing what apprentices in the hair industry go through and I would recommend it to any other business.”
Meanwhile, Andy Horton, director of skills and technology, spent the day at Aeromet as an engineering apprentice, while Chris Harrison, director of vocational and academic studies, undertook her placement at Festival Housing in Malvern.
The college also held an awards ceremony on Friday for high-fliers who have been nominated for Apprentice of the Year.
The annual National Apprenticeship Week celebrates the positive impact learning on the job has on people, businesses and the economy.
