POLICE are looking for a “rough and dirty-looking” man who spent the night in someone’s car after breaking in with a croquet mallet.
The owner of the Skoda Felicia found his car, which was parked on his drive in Linksview Crescent, Worcester, had been damaged in the night. Officers believe the car window was smashed some time between 1am and 9.15am on Sunday after the man tried getting into the garage to escape the bad weather. That morning, the owner of the vehicle was confronted with a man asleep in his car. Toby Shergold, West Mercia Police spokesman, said: “At 8.20am there was a knock on the door from the next-door neighbour who asked if there was a problem with their car.
“The rear windscreen had been smashed in. As he approached the vehicle he was aware of a man sleeping in the driver’s side.
“He went to wake him and the man put his shoes back on and casually walked away from the area.”
Nothing was stolen from the garage and a wooden mallet was found near the car.
The man is described as white, 18 to 25-ears-old, with mousey-brown untidy hair, slim build, and about 5ft 7 inches tall. He was wearing a white hoody top, black Adidas track bottoms with a white stripe down the legs and black and yellow trainers.
Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description to call 101 quoting incident 172 s 100313.
