SMOKERS can get an extra helping hand to kick the habit as part of a national campaign.
Scales Pharmacy in Astwood Road, Worcester, will be offering advice and giving away NHS Smokefree Quit Kits as part of national No Smoking Day tomorrow.
Pharmacist Ramesh Patel said on-going support available all year round as part of the All About Health programme helps smokers feel the benefits to their health and wallets.
He said: “Not only is quitting smoking one of the best things you can do to take care of yourself but it’s also a good way to look after your finances in these hard times.
“With a packet of cigarettes costing about £7, the financial strain of being a smoker can be massive. Even a moderate smoker will be forking out a small fortune because of their addiction.
“Everyone knows the damage tobacco can do. Not only is there the danger of lung cancer but it also increases your chances of suffering heart attacks and strokes.
“Giving up smoking can leave you irritable and depressed but on-going support could be the difference between tackling the cravings to kick the habit for good and falling off the wagon.
“The health benefits you gain from quitting are significant. You’ll find you can breathe better, your skin will start looking younger and your teeth won’t have that horrid yellow tinge associated with smokers.”
“You don’t need to book an appointment and we’ll be here with advice for as long as you need it.”
