SNOW showers have been marching across Worcestershire as hopes of a warm welcome to spring were dashed.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs of just 2C and lows of a chilling -4C in the coming days as the cold winter extends its icy reach into spring.
A Met Office forecaster said Monday would be a "bitterly cold day with a biting easterly wind".
"There will be some bright or sunny spells, but also further snow showers, which could result in slight accumulations in places," he said.
Icy conditions are expected overnight, he said, with temperatures dropping as low as -4C.
"Still some snow showers this evening and overnight, though perhaps becoming more intermittent towards dawn," he added.
"A very cold night with frost and ice."
Tomorrow looks set to bring a drier and brighter day, though some snow showers are expected.
The rest of the week is expected to turn warmer with some outbreaks of sleet ad rain possible on Friday.
