Advanced Foster Care, a leading fostering agency, will have a stand at the Worcester News Jobs Fair, to be held on Thursday at the Guildhall in Worcester.
A trip to the previous jobs fair in Worcester, in September 2012 resulted in two successful social work staff appointments – Helen Gaffney and Jackie Curtis.
Jackie said “I saw the advert in the local paper and went along to the jobs fair at the Guildhall.
“Advanced Foster Care staff took time to speak with me and I was able to gain information about them as an employer.
“It has been such a success story. I have a permanent job and am delighted I decided to go along to the jobs fair.”
Attending the jobs fair also provided opportunities for individuals interested in becoming foster carers.
Advanced Foster Care also received many enquiries from the public interested in fostering.
Regional manager Sally Byrd said: “Last year’s event was primarily aimed at redundant workers and those seeking employment for the first time.
“For anyone interested in pursuing a new career, whether as a result of redundancy or as a complete career change, fostering can offer an ideal career choice.
“We are always looking for existing carers or new foster carers from all backgrounds, regardless of gender, marital status, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
“More people are realising that fostering offers a rewarding career, flexibility and competitive salary.”
Helen Gaffney also saw the jobs fair advert on the webpage and decided to pop into the Guildhall.
Helen said: “I had no idea that attending would actually lead to a job for me. I have always been interested in fostering and am delighted to be working at Advanced Foster Care.
“They are such a friendly and supportive team and our regional manager Sally Byrd has so much knowledge and experience – it has given me such an opportunity.”
