STAFF at supermarkets in Worcester showed their caring side and got into the spring spirit by turning yellow for a weekend.
Co-operative Food stores in the city joined branches across the county to take part in the Big Yellow Weekend to raise money for the retailer’s new charity of the year, the Carers’ Trust.
The event was designed to create a spring fete atmosphere in stores and the teams banked more than £6,000, with the Lower Wick store staging a custard bath and the Angel Street branch holding a female head shave.
John Wisedale, operations manager for Co-operative Food in Worcestershire, said: “Our first fund-raising event for Carers Trust was a really good fun and I’m pleased we have got our fund-raising off to such a strong start.
“The team really enjoyed the Big Yellow Weekend and we’ve had great feedback from shoppers who enjoyed the festivities. We’d like to thank customers for their support and we have already started planning future events.”
