FRUITS nurtured in the Worcestershire countryside will star in a new advert for a much-loved British brand.
Tomatoes from the Vale of Evesham were selected as the tastiest of the bunch by Walkers and tonight viewers will be able to see football legend Gary Lineker embark on a journey across the UK to source new flavours.
The new advert, which airs in the break of Coronation Street on ITV, sees Gary hitting the road on a red tractor to see where Walkers source the home grown ingredients He even took time to visit the county with his father, Barry Lineker, a former fruit and veg market trader, to learn about the best of British fruit that flavours the re-launched prawn cocktail and tomato ketchup flavour crisps.
Marianne McGoldrick, marketing manager for Walkers, said: “We’re really excited about the new ad which showcases Walkers home grown ingredients and think viewers will love seeing Gary on his journey across the UK.”
The star begins his journey in a bustling town before travelling through rolling hills, pouring rain and a barn full of Somerset cheddar.
Commenting on the advert, Gary said: “Driving a tractor is a lot harder than it looks - especially when the script calls for it to be driven across a suspension bridge and you’ve got a huge fear of heights.”
